Pavement Marker Installation with Epoxy

Road surface preparation:

Road surface preparation:
1. Make sure the road surface is dry and free of sand or grease. If necessary, clean with a brush.
2. Do not install the stud on an expansion joint on a concrete road.
3. On a new concrete surface, make sure that any grooves or holes are not so deep as to allow the wet epoxy to flow away from the bottom of the stud. The stud base must be fully supported after the epoxy has set.
4. Before installation, brush the grout film off of a new concrete surface. Otherwise the epoxy will adhere only to the grout, which has poor adhesion to the concrete below.
5. For studs with a stem, drill and clean holes in road surface as per instructions below.
6. For stemless studs, no hole is needed. If inserted in a groove, the groove should be 5 feet long and 5 inches wide and 1 inch deep.

Drilling  the holes for Aluminum pavement markers:
Diameter: 22mm or 13/16 inch
Depth: 52mm or 2 inches

Position the stud correctly and insert into the hole gently so the bond liquid will spill over to the edge of the stud base and fill the whole area between the road surface and the stud as shown in the diagram below.

Drill the holes:

or 2 inches

Position the stud correctly and insert into the hole gently so the bond liquid will spill over to the edge of the stud base and fill the whole area between the road surface and the stud as shown in the diagram below. Printable PDF
